Plaza del Carmen, Camaguey

A character that awakened the creativity of Martha Jimenez, was Mata'o, an old water carrier from Bedoya, now deceased, but very popular among the residents of that community. The villagers will always remember it, every time they pass by the side of their sculpture. This piece, along with the other works of the Plaza del Carmen, have given Martha Jimenez international fame. These sculptures were cast in bronze to last and continue to give the square a unique attraction.
